I wrote this book to help young readers learn a story about how you can be a friend to someone with a food allergy. I also came back to my elementary school and provided several presentations to TK-2nd graders.

Part of my Gold Award project is to bring the most information possible to my young audience. I had the great opportunity to give several presentations during National Allergy Awareness Week at Golden View Elementary School. Here, I taught TK-2nd grade students an overview of food allergies and treatments, with skits, games to assess their knowledge, storybook time of "August and the Bad Apple," a discussion of the lessons learned, & a Q&A session.
